Unwritten: Expressive Typography

"Unwritten": Expressive Typography
Spring 2024 Typography II

Objective
The objective for this assignment was to express the lyrics or dialogue of an audio using only type-based design. I chose to use Natasha Bedingfield's song "Unwritten" specifically because this song has grown to be very sentimental to me, as my soon-to-be graduating friends often play this song to celebrate their time in college and to look forward to what their futures hold.

Colors
I chose to use a light color palette of blue and gold for this project because the song itself is very lighthearted, whimsical, and youthful. The original album cover for "Unwritten" contains gold tones, and I aimed to reflect this in my motion.

This was only the second time that I have used Adobe After Effects, and I thoroughly enjoyed challenging myself by trying many text effects for the first time.
The images below are storyboards that guided me through this project.
